The stretchers are glued and pinned. They are shipped fully assembled shipped via UPS. 18" height is the same as a regular chair and are intended for use with 30"high tables or desks. Use 24" high stools with 36" high counters (standard). Use 30" high stools with 40-42" high bars. Use 36" high stools for 48" bars. All commercial grade stools come with swivel seats. All stools are available unfinished or finished in Nat, med., dark, or dark cherry.
